What is The Priority Football Academy?

Working in partnership with Nailsea School, Priority Football Academy is recruiting student athletes to join the programme for the 2021 academic year. The Academy will offer enjoyable, structured training sessions to help you reach your full potential, opening doors to further opportunities within football and other sports.

All sessions will be led by our UEFA Qualified Coaches Robert Prior & Alex Lumsden. A typical schedule will consist of three training sessions per week (during sixth form hours), using Nailsea School’s fantastic all-weather facilities.

Training sessions will cover the technical and tactical aspects of the football programme, with matches in the ECFA Men’s League on Wednesday afternoons. Analysis, physiotherapy and recovery sessions will be integrated into the weekly training schedule.

Alex Lumsden

As well as our Head Coach, Alex is a Youth Development Phase Coach at Forest Green Rovers and previously worked at Bristol Rovers with Rob for 3 years. He too holds a UEFA B Licence and Youth Award qualifications and is currently a UEFA A Licence candidate with the Scottish FA. Alex has a vast amount of experience producing pathways for young players stepping into semi-professional football, most recently working as Assistant Manager with Southern League side Slimbridge AFC.

“At 16 I decided to join a Football and Education Programme and they were two of my best years in football. You learn so much at a key stage of your life – for me it was adapting to senior football as a player and studying to become a coach. We hope to provide the same amount of enjoyment and learning experiences to students so they too will be inspired to progress within sport.”
